Speaking of water, the Balearic Islands provide around 400 beaches and more than 1,000 kilometers of coastline. Further, they contain five nature reserves and a host of hidden coves. If you want a vacation you will never forget, consider going to the Spanish Balearic Islands. You will have relaxation and fun. The four largest islands are Majorca, Minorca, Formentera, and Ibiza. Each has immense beauty and provides visitors with chances to enjoy nature and explore culture. Further, the good news is that you can visit all islands in one trip, as they are easy to access from one another.
About 40 percent of Majorca consists of protected natural areas; therefore, you can just imagine the beauty you will find there. With around 550 kilometers of coastline, the island has beaches like Cala Mesquida, Sa Coma, and El Arenal. Even though the beaches of Majorca are stunning, there is much more to see when you are there. The countryside of the island is spectacular. The Sierra de Tramuntana Mountains and the Mondrago and S’Albufera natural reserves are just amazing. If you want to see seabeds and meadows, the Cabrera Archipelago National Park is just an hour away by boat from Majorca. Besides the natural offers of the island, you should also take time to explore the architecture during your trip. The capital of Majorca, Palma de Mallorca, contains one of the best preserved historic centers of Europe. Just take a walk around the old town and stop by the cathedral and Bellver Castle.
Another exciting Balearic Island is Ibiza. With a reputation of being a party island, Ibiza is full of beaches, natural reserves, clubs, and tourists. Its remarkable biodiversity and culture have made it a UNESCO World Heritage site. With around 210 kilometers of coastline, the island has a wealth of coves and dunes that give it an appealing feel. A prime summer destination, resorts include Sant Antonio y San Josep and Santa Eularia. At night, Ibiza becomes a party island. Its nightlife is world-famous, with many tourists pouring in to get a taste of it.
Formentera, another beautiful island, is about half an hour away by boat from Ibiza. Measuring around 19 kilometers long, this small island is known for its clear waters and nude beaches. It is becoming an increasingly popular tourist destination.
Another Balearic gem is Minorca. A UNESCO Biosphere Reserve site, this island is peaceful and contains unspoiled landscapes and sunny beaches. The northern part of Minorca consists of rugged terrain and small coves, while the southern part contains the white sand beaches. With small villages and nature reserves, the island is perfect for visitors who enjoy bike rides and long strolls. Nature lovers would appreciate Minorca.
