Where To Stay
Whether you’re traveling for business or pleasure, there are a number of different accommodations available in Spain. However, there are big differences between the types of accommodations available, so it’s important to do your research before you book a room. As with most other parts of the world, your travel accommodations will vary by price and amenities. However, there are some great ways to stay in Spain and save on your amenities if you’re traveling on a budget.
Low-Priced Accommodations
If you’re in search of affordable accommodations in Spain, you might want to consider the large number of hostels available. Hostels are usually a big draw for the backpacking crowd, but that’s not an exclusive rule. In most cases, a room in a hostel will be a simple room, similar to a dorm room. You’ll usually find that hostel rooms consist of bunk beds and community showers and restrooms. The rooms aren’t fancy, but the beds are usually comfortable and some places have a community kitchen or dining area. All in all, a hostel is the most inexpensive place to stay. Most places have a way for travelers to make reservations, but most people just show up and see if there are any open beds. In highly populated cities like Madrid, you can find several hostels to choose from, so you don’t need to worry about not being able to find a room.
Mid-Price Accommodations
Hotels in Spain generally fall into the mid-price range – from $50 to $200 a night. Most of these hotels have cookie cutter rooms with two standard beds, a bathroom, and a television. Many hotels have air conditioning, but you may want to check before paying for the room, since it isn’t necessarily included. In this price range, there are thousands of hotels to choose from. The biggest difference in price will be determined by location, as hotels located close to attractions will cost more than those located further out of the way.
High-Priced Accommodations
For those in search of five star amenities and the best money can buy, there are a number of choices available. The most famous five star accommodations in Spain are the Ritz in San Sebastian’s Londres y de Inglaterra and the Reina Victoria in Madrid. There are also a number of private residences that you can rent for longer stays. These are generally the most expensive accommodations, but most places are fully staffed and private if you need a special getaway.
As you can see, there are accommodations for every taste and price range available in Spain. When planning your trip, you might find it helpful to speak with a local travel agent to see what’s available in the area you’ll be visiting, since it can be confusing trying to figure out the exact location of a hotel on your own. A good travel advisor can advise you on the best option for you, depending on your budget, the region you plan to visit and the monuments and attractions you’d like to see.
